ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS (AHAs)
Natural AHA is extracted from various fruits such as grapes, citrus fruits, apples as well as sugar cane, and are rich in sugars that play a key role in the exfoliation process.
The AHA molecules successfully penetrate into the epidermis and break the cellular bonds enabling and facilitating a natural, quicker and more effective exfoliation. It is used in peeling treatments for the removal of dead skin cells present on the top of the epidermis and this will have the effect of renewing and improving the overall complexion, illuminating hyper-pigmentation and achieving a smooth, younger look. Among the most popular AHAs are glycolic acid, lactic acid and citric acid.
BETA HYDROXY ACIDS (BHA)
Beta Hydroxy Acids, among them Salicylic Acid, are lipid soluble and can penetrate the protective lipid layer into deeper layers of the epidermis and act there. Its ability to clean the pores, improve the proliferation of new skin cells increasing the skin’s thickness make it effective and often used in acne treatments.
An antioxidant, helps delay premature skin aging .
Ingredients which filter the sun’s ultraviolet radiation thus protecting the skin from immediate and long-term damages, including the acceleration of the skin’s aging process and the development of skin cancer. Effective protective products are those which contain sun-blocks that provide protection from both UVA radiation (the long-wavelength radiation, which penetrates the depths of the skin and causes long-term damages) and UVB radiation (the short-wavelength radiation which is responsible for redness and sunburns), and contain a SPF (sun protective factor) of at least 15.
VITAMIN C (Ascorbic Acid)
Vitamin C is one of the most effective antioxidants and is also a key player in the process of collagen production. Research has shown that topical application of vitamin C can improve the “re-interweaving” of these fibers in mature complexions. Vitamin C is also known to have an illuminating effect on the complexion and it protects from photo-aging and environmental stress.
